4/6/16 GREAT TO SEE MY DAD AGAIN, the FORMER CRYSTAL CATHEDRAL CARE & KINDNESS PASTOR, & CPE SUPERVISOR , now 81

so I hadn't seen my dad in quite some time even though we've stayed closely in touch by email and other communication...finally we managed to meet again, and we talked about many things mostly not shown here, but also about his health, and he's having a little bit of memory loss, but one of his doctor's said it's definitely not alzheimers, which is good. So we pray for him and his mental and physical health  (he uses a hearing  aid now, which I couldn't even see, and also has a knee problem...swelling up but for no known reason...xrays don't show anything). Dad returned to southern Cal in 1984 (where he grew up, partially,  in Bellflower around 1936 et seq, and where my late grandfather started the Valley Christian schools )  to work as a pastoral care  pastor alongside the late Robert H. Schuller for many years at the Crystal Cathedral (approximately 30) and before that as a chaplain & CPE director at Pine Rest Hospital in Grand Rapids MI, and prior to that a few years as a church pastor in Iowa City, among other things, all the while affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church (CRC). He continues to do some pastoral care activities for one of the local CRC's in southern California. He and my mom are still married and living together here in southern Cal and are still active. Both still drive cars, visit family and friends and grandkids, and seem to be doing well, in general, praise the Lord. For some of you older ones  from the Calvin College and CRC tradition, Helped by his 6'6" height & Dutch frame, Jim was one of the basketball players at Calvin in the 50's when they won the MIAA championship 4 consecutive  years along with Tony DIekema (former Calvin president), the late Don Vroon, Tom Newhoff, and several others, and Coach Barney Steen. And going farther back he was one of the Holland Christian High basketball players (again, alongside Tony Diekema) .  He sends his greetings & well-wishes to all of you. God bless
